The City of Campbell River is searching for experienced professional Planner to join our Long Range Planning & Sustainability team as either a Senior Planner or Planner II.

The roles… In these roles you will perform a wide range of professional planning duties in long range planning including work related to Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw reviews, and undertaking strategic corporate long range planning initiatives such as: affordable housing initiatives, parks planning, transportation planning, long-range land use planning and public art policies, and other sustainability initiatives. You will play a staff liaison role to a range of community organizations and committees working on strategic corporate initiatives.

To be considered for either of these roles, our ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications.

Senior Planner - $48.69 per hour (2023 Rate of Pay)

  • Undergraduate degree in Community Planning, Urban or Regional Planning or an equivalent discipline related to planning.
  • Certified Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Planning Institute of BC or equivalent affiliate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional planning experience, within the last 7 years, in community or regional planning, preferably at the local government level. 
  • Experience in public consultation.
  • Experience in policy development and implementation.
  • Experience in development planning is considered an asset.

Planner II - $43.66 per hour (2023 Rate of Pay)

  • Undergraduate degree in Community Planning, Urban or Regional Planning or an equivalent discipline related to planning.
  • Certified RPP with the Planning Institute of BC or equivalent affiliate.
  • Minimum of 4 years planning experience within the last 7 years, in community or regional planning, preferably in local government.
