DEVELOPMENT PLANNER II

The City of Campbell River is seeking an experienced Development Planner II to join our team.

The role: As part of an integrated team, you will be working in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment. Reporting to the Development Planning Manager, you will perform a wide range of professional planning duties including the analysis and processing of a broad range of development applications of varying complexity, the preparation of various types of development planning reports and studies, public presentations, and the provision of technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Possess an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution in Community Planning, or Urban Geography with a focus on Urban Design, land use planning, or in a discipline related to Planning.
  • Be a certified member with the Canadian Institute of Planners/Planning Institute of BC (RPP MCIP) or equivalent affiliate.
  • Have a minimum of four (4) years land use planning experience within the last seven (7) years, preferably at the local government level.   

In addition to strong analytical, problem solving, communication and conflict resolution skills, you exercise sound decision-making while multitasking and working under tight timelines to respond to rapid changes in direction and priorities.
