Manager of Planning

Full-time Permanent Vacancy 

The Manager of Planning reports to the Director of Planning & Development and will be responsible for managing the Planning team. The Manager of Planning will act as the Approving Officer for the municipality and will oversee current and development planning, as well as business licensing. This role will include overseeing staff where necessary to run an efficient Planning team with a focus on providing leadership and guidance to operational staff. The Manager is responsible for the timely and effective delivery of service to both internal and external contacts; ensures that appropriate resources are allocated to the Planning division; manages the divisions' financial budget(s) effectively and determines consultant resources that are required for many Planning projects. The normal work week is 40 hours, with a Monday to Friday schedule and does include evenings to attend council and other meetings. 

The candidate will have a completion of a master’s degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Planning or related field is preferred and must be a designated Planner with the Canadian Institute of Planners. A minimum of ten years’ experience working in Planning or a related field, preferably in local government with three of those years being in a managerial or leadership role and knowledge of methods and techniques for Planning projects and community involvement. Private sector experience will also be considered an asset. This is an exempt management role with a salary range between $102, 874 and $120, 997.
