Curious about how other communities are crafting changes to their Zoning Bylaw to bring in small-scale multi-unit housing (SSMUH)?
We’ll be featuring leading communities over a series of Gentle Density Network “chew and chat” virtual sessions where you’ll get both a presentation from a planner sharing their community’s approach, as well as an opportunity for open conversation with planners from across the province about the current challenges and approaches to bringing in SSMUH zoning and other related legislation.
We're offering four of these bite-sized GDN sessions in the lead up to the province's June 30th bylaw adoption due date.
Our next session on March 13 is the City of Castlegar’s Manager of Planning, Development and Sustainability, Meeri Durand, RPP, MCIP. Meeri will share about Castlegar’s integration of its Housing Needs Report and Community Plan with the SSMUH requirements.
Join fellow planners* over the lunch hour (12:05-12:55), with the presentation from Castlegar scheduled for the first half and the second half reserved for open chatting with the planners community of practice.
Register for City of Castlegar HNR, OCP & SSMUH March 13th 12:05 - 12:55 PM
*To provide space for relevant conversation, registration is limited, and reserved for community planners and related staff currently employed within First Nations, municipal, or regional governments.
About the Gentle Density Network
The Gentle Density Network is an open space to catalyze the evolution of single-detached neighbourhoods that provide ground-oriented homes like laneway housing, houseplexes and pocket neighbourhoods. There will be opportunities to collaborate with First Nations, regional, and local government planners, learn about new resources, and attend education sessions.
