Pre-Contact Indigenous Planning  - Summer Webinar Series
Sa̱nala Planning
August 14th 2024
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST
CPL Units: 2

Sa̱nala Planning is excited to present a summer webinar series, led by CEO Jessie Hemphill and Senior Planner Dana Moraes. Jessie and Dana draw on decades of experience and condense it into two-hour virtual sessions on proposal writing, pre-contact Indigenous planning, Planning for Joy, Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) 101, community engagement, and plan implementation.

These webinars are ideal bite-size professional development for Indigenous and non-Indigenous planners, planning students, and any community member engaged in bringing about self-determination for their people.

Pre-Contact Indigenous Planning
Indigenous Peoples have been master planners since time immemorial. In this webinar Jessie will share stories and examples of brilliant community design, mutually beneficial lands and ecosystem relationships and stewardship practices, urban design, and adaptive architecture - all from pre-European-contact Turtle Island. This webinar is designed for Indigenous and non-Indigenous planners and planning students who seek to round out their historical perspectives on planning and learn how to recognize local Indigenous planning approaches in order to inform your own work.
