About the Opportunity

We are looking to add a passionate community consultant, with a focus on health and social planning, to our team in Fort St. John. As a community consultant you will work on complex yet rewarding projects that make a tangible difference in communities to help them think through how they can be healthier, safer and more connected. Do you have the skills and humility required to participate in and lead important conversations around community challenges while fostering collaborative and inclusive relationships? Let’s connect.

We are in search of someone who will:

  • Complete key project research, analysis, and report writing that will help to distill important information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Facilitate in-person and digital communications and engagement with Indigenous communities, local governments, and community organizations.
  • Work alongside our clients to understand their unique health and social challenges, collaboratively exploring solutions and developing thoughtful and meaningful implementation strategies.
  • Develop trusting relationships and partnerships with existing and new clients in Northern BC, acting as an advisor for community health and social planning.

If you have the interest, passion, and experience to be a part of our team, our preference would be for you to join us in the BC Peace region. If you are already living in Northern BC (e.g. Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, etc.) and would like to remain in your existing community, we are open to you joining our team.

About You

You have a degree in social sciences (e.g. community planning, community development, geography, Indigenous studies, social work, etc.) at a bachelor’s or master’s level with zero to three years of professional experience.

The following attributes would make you a great fit for this role:

  • You have a keen interest in building a meaningful career in the North to help create positive health and social impacts in Northern urban and rural communities.
  • You have knowledge and experience working alongside Indigenous communities and organizations, with an understanding of how to employ cultural safety and cultural humility in your work.
  • You have a desire to bring diverse organizations and partners together to explore creative solutions to complex health and social challenges.
  • You are a passionate and skilled communicator and facilitator– you love to build relationships and foster meaningful connections.
  • You care deeply about the health and well-being of people and communities
