Who We Are

Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nation's culture is rich and resilient. We continue to practice our customs and traditions, which are strongly interconnected with our traditional territory. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Working as an integral part of the Ta na wa Shéway I7x̱w ta Úxwumixw Planning and Capital Projects Department, this position reports directly to the Director of Planning and Capital Projects, The primary responsibility of this senior professional and manager is to prepare and steward the Community plans as adopted by Chiefs & Council. Relying on a broad range of expertise such as community planning, regulatory planning, urban design, etc., this land planning professional oversees permanent staff as well as a variety of project teams to provide the Director of Planning & Capital Projects and Council with a full range of planning studies, recommendations, lands use policies, by-law amendments and interpretation of applicable laws. The individual in this role requires extremely strong project and staff management skills, negotiation and relationship building in addition to analysis and reporting.

Starting Salary: $ 90,464 annually, plus a comprehensive benefit program.
