Planning Summer Student (2 Positions)

$24.43 per hour | 35 hours per week | Up to 16 weeks

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking two Planning Summer Students to support the Planning Department during the 2026 summer term (May 4 to August 28, 2026, dates negotiable).
Reporting to the Director of Planning, students will gain practical local government planning experience including:
- Assisting with development application processing
- Conducting land use planning research
- Responding to public inquiries related to zoning and development
- Supporting report preparation and public meetings
- Maintaining planning records and GIS data
- Assisting with parks and trails planning and maintenance
- Participating in a special research project to identify the historic Telegraph Trail route within the Regional District
This position is ideal for students enrolled in planning, geography, or a related field. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a CIP accredited planning program.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of land use planning principles
- Familiarity with GIS
- Strong communication skills
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence
Education:
- Full time enrollment within the last year in a post secondary planning or related program
- Co-op placements welcome
