Reporting directly to the Manager of Planning Services, the Senior Planning Officer is responsible for managing and leading long-range planning projects, the review and the rewrite of Official Community Plans, and the development of special planning projects. The Senior Planning Officer is also involved in the interpretation and application of bylaws, policies and guidelines, implementation of long-range planning initiatives, and data collection and analysis. The use of your strong communication skills will be core to your work. You will lead workshops, open houses, and public meetings, using thoughtful engagement methods to ensure community voices shape outcomes. You’ll work closely with elected officials, community members, and stakeholders; and bring the CRD’s ideas to life using your well-developed skills in graphic presentation and map making. This is an ideal role for you if you believe good planning is as much about relationships as it is about policy.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning or closely related field
- Certification with the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Experience working in local government
- Experience in developing long-range and special planning projects
- A valid Driver’s license and the enthusiasm to travel in all weather conditions
