Permanent Full-time Vacancy – Planning Technician II
 

About the Opportunity
 

The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Planning Technician II (35 hrs per week) based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Planning, you will provide a variety of detailed technical information, interpretation and assistance on development applications, bylaw requirements and related polices to homeowners, developers, the general public, internal departments, and external agencies.


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accept, review, assess and evaluate land use applications such as Zoning Bylaw amendments, Development Permit, Development Variance Permit, Liquor License, Business License, and Agricultural Land Reserve in accordance with District regulations and policies, and Provincial and Federal legislation;
  • Provides information and assistance to the public and developers pertaining to general inquiries and the application of the Official Community Plan (OCP), Zoning Bylaw, subdivision regulations, engineering requirements, and development reports;
  • Provide administration, record keeping, budget tracking, and coordination services for planning projects.
     

More About You


To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of a diploma in geography, planning or related field and a minimum of five years’ work experience, including 3 years in a municipal setting. Additionally, a valid British Columbia Driver’s License, Class 5 is required.
 

As our ideal candidate, you have strong communication to respond to public and internal inquires. You have knowledge of related Acts and Regulations and the planning process in British Columbia. You have demonstrated organizational, problem solving, research skills.
