The Professional Governance Act has changed the way that specific professions are regulated in British Columbia in order to protect the public interest. In this special webinar open to all members, you will receive an overview of PIBC's Professional Governance Research and Engagement Project and ways to get involved. Also, the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance, Forest Professionals BC, and the BC Society of Landscape Architects will share strategic perspectives about professional governance.

Deborah Jensen, RPP, MCIP
Chair of the RPP Regulation Subcommittee
Deborah Jensen is the Principal and Senior Planner of PlanningWorks Consulting. With over 20 years of planning experience and volunteering with PIBC, Deborah is currently Chair of the RPP Regulation Subcommittee, focusing on the Professional Governance Research & Engagement Project.

Tim Shah, RPP, MCIP
Member of the RPP Regulation Subcommittee
Tim Shah, RPP, MCIP is a senior transportation planner and Vancouver Island Team Lead with WATT Consulting Group. He's been a member of the PIBC Policy & Public Affairs Committee since 2023 and has been spending more of his time recently on the RPP Regulation Subcommittee with its focus on the Professional Governance Research & Engagement Project.

Alayna Van Leeuwen
Deputy Superintendent, Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance
Alayna works with the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance. She is responsible for legislative, regulatory and policy work related to the Professional Governance Act, including handling applications from organizations that are interested in coming under the Act.

Christine Gelowitz
CEO, Forest Professionals British Columbia
Christine Gelowitz is the Chief Executive Officer of Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC). Christine has over 25 years of experience in the BC provincial government and non-profit sector, and her leadership was instrumental in transitioning FPBC's operations under the Professional Governance Act after nearly 75 years under the Foresters Act.

Ryan Noakes
Regulatory Lead, BC Society of Landscape Architects
Ryan Noakes is a seasoned expert in professional regulation with two decades of experience ensuring ethical practices and upholding public trust in resource and healthcare industries. As the Regulatory Lead at the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects, Ryan has guided initiatives to modernize frameworks in the Society’s transition to the Professional Governance Act.
