Linda Allen RPP, FCIP
Subject Matter Expert
A former PIBC President (1995-97), Ms. Linda Allen has worked in communities of all sizes and challenges across Canada. Early in her career, she worked with the Alberta Task Force on Urbanization at a time when the province was transitioning from a predominantly rural to an increasingly urbanized society. With the City of Ottawa, Ms. Allen was among the first vanguard to solidly embed citizen involvement in planning. The resources of the day allowed planners to set up a visible presence in neighbourhoods, and her offices hummed with people of many talents and perspectives.
For more than 20 years, Ms. Allen has been a Principal in CitySpaces Consulting, a firm with a long-term commitment to “building lasting, livable communities”. She heads up CitySpaces’ policy and research team and works with a team of young, enthusiastic planners. The firm consults primarily throughout Western Canada in the areas of community planning, affordable housing, urban design, development approvals and project management.
Throughout her career, Ms. Allen has taken leadership roles in professional and volunteer organizations, including community health, youth sports and social planning. She is also a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
