Organization

TransLink is the regional authority responsible for the planning, building, and operating of an integrated transportation system for the movement of goods and people in Metro Vancouver. With a combined workforce of 7,800 people and having generated approximately $2.14 billion in revenues in 2020, TransLink and its operating subsidiaries represent one of the largest organizations in British Columbia and is one of only a small number of agencies worldwide charged with the responsibility for an integrated urban transportation network, including the development of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

TransLink’s Board of Directors is responsible for supervising the management of TransLink’s affairs and for acting in the best interests of the broader organization while upholding the highest levels of integrity and professionalism. TransLink’s independent Screening Panel is seeking three individuals to contribute seasoned executive leadership, business acumen, and operational expertise to TransLink’s Board of Directors. Consistent with TransLink’s governing legislation, the Screening Panel is required to provide a list of qualified candidates by September 2021 to the Mayors’ Council for its consideration. We welcome all applications by 11th August 2021.

To help focus this year’s search, the following three areas have been identified as particular areas of expertise/experience, for prospective candidates to bring to the TransLink board:

Business/Organizational Leadership

  • Board experience
  • Real estate development
  • Communications and Marketing
  • Oversight of major IT projects
  • Cyber & Risk management
  • Organizational efficiency

Public Policy/Social Equity

  • Environment & Sustainability
  • Experience and exposure to working with local/municipal government
  • City & Municipal planning
  • Social equity (particularly through the lens of transit usage/transit design)

People & Culture

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Indigenous relationships
  • Future of work
  • Organizational Change & Transition
  • Employee engagement and mental wellness

The screening panel is looking to nominate to the Mayors’ Council for appointment candidates who have expertise in some of the above areas.  There is no expectation that any one individual would meet all (or even most of the listed areas).
