The Peace River Regional District includes four electoral areas and seven member municipalities, with a total population of approximately 60,000, covering a vast 120,000 square kilometer area.
Position Overview
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has an opportunity for an effective and innovative professional with initiative and leadership qualities. The economic boom in northeast BC is driving the need for proactive land management that balances the benefits of a surging resource sector with the interests of residents and communities.
Reporting to the General Manager of Development Services or designate, the primary duties of the Planning Services Manager will be day-to-day planning staff oversight and guidance on technical matters related to the processing of development applications. They are responsible for leading and managing the efforts in developing policy and performing research, creating official community plans, zoning bylaws and all other land use management tools.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have a post-secondary degree in land use planning, and at least seven years of related experience, preferably in a local government setting, including three years at a supervisory level. A Registered Professional Planner with membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is an asset. A sound knowledge of planning principles, practices and techniques is required.
A valid BC driver’s license is required as travel around the region will be necessary.
Additional Information
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch.
