Planning Technician Position (Maternity Leave, 12-18 months)

​The Planning Technician (Maternity Leave) position falls within the Development Services Department. This department is responsible for Planning, Building, Bylaw Compliance, and Business Licensing services. This position falls within the CUPE 363 Collective Agreement.

The Planning Technician plays a key role in supporting the City's planning department by conducting research, reviewing development applications, and ensuring compliance with municipal planning bylaws and policies. This entry-level position involves processing planning applications, reviewing permits and business licenses, providing front counter customer service, and assisting senior planners with various administrative and technical tasks. The role requires both office and occasional fieldwork, including site inspections.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in Planning (or a related field) OR a two-year diploma with relevant experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; GIS experience is an asset.
  • British Columbia Class 5 Driver’s License 

Annual Salary:

  • $76,790.00
