Planner I (Full-Time)

The Planning Department with the City of Chilliwack, a growing and vibrant community of 100,000 located 100 kilometers east of Vancouver, is seeking two dynamic individuals to fill these Planner I positions. 

The City of Chilliwack takes great pride in its focus on providing excellent service to its citizens and we are looking for a like-minded person to join our team. In this exciting role in Development Planning, you will assist in the efficient operation of the Department through a variety of activities involving current planning, zoning, land use changes, urban design and various comprehensive planning projects. In addition to your excellent interpersonal skills, you are a highly motivated individual that is goal-oriented and can work efficiently with a varied workload. You are also a critical thinker with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and seek alternative solutions.

Your post-secondary education in urban planning/geography is accompanied by a working knowledge of planning principles and legislation. You are conversant with zoning standards, municipal bylaws, and other applicable regulations. You have the ability to prepare clear, concise reports as well as read and interpret engineering and architectural site plans. This unionized position requires a valid driver’s license.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and the hourly rate for this position is $42.22/ hour.  We offer a great work environment that prides itself on employee satisfaction.
