The conference theme is “Building Community Connections” and the day will focus on bringing together engineers, planners and other professionals to share current work and discuss new initiatives. The conference features six speakers, plus a presentation from our host, MetroHub. Additionally, the day will include lunch with ample time for networking and end with your choice of a tour:
- Walking tour of downtown Kelowna
- E-scooter / e-bike tour of the Abbott Street active transportation corridor

Conference Speakers
The afternoon keynote address will be presented by Michael von Hausen RPP, FCIP who brings 40 years of experience in public and private practice as both a professional planner and landscape architect. Michael will present concepts from his most recent book - Public Realm: The Next Makers Handbook - and discuss processes that inspire the design of fun, captivating and complete places. Other speakers include:

- Ryan Smith RPP, MCIP - City of Kelowna
- Suzanne Therrien - Simon Fraser University
- Shivam Khaddar - UBC Okanagan
- Matt Worona - Spin
Speakers will present on topics including communication between planners and engineers, planning during and post COVID, health benefits of investing in cycling infrastructure, telecommuter vs. non-telecommuter travel activities, and e-bikes and e-scooters in small and mid-sized cities.
