This course is four Monday evenings beginning April 8.
Cities are at the centre of the global sustainability challenge: both sites of intense resource consumption and places of creative invention and solutions implementation.
In this course, you will be introduced to the basic challenges and principles of sustainable urban planning and design as well as survey the field's most influential tools used at different spatial scales from a city-region to a single building. Using climate change-related mitigation and adaptation examples used in Metro Vancouver, you will learn about key dimensions of climate action and ecological knowledge and how they can be incorporated into planning and design.
